This kind of reminds me of a incident in the US,I had 3 flatmates for a bit,the woman was a absolute nutter and accused one of the other's in the flat of threatening to shoot her (she called the police to lay a complaint).I don't know whether he did or not but I do know she was a unstable loon and probably drove him to lose his temper with her behaviour, and thats exactly what I told the Police when they spoke to me in private. They thanked me,said they also thought she seemed a bit flaky, and left. That was the end of the matter.Luckily she left soon after, much to everyones relief.

So.....,
A question for "powdermonkey"
Does Colfo have insurance in place? i.e. legal counsel to represent all license holders who may find themselves in difficulty?

If so, how does a license holder go about accessing this help? Or, is Colfo already providing this chap with assistance?

... one tiny problem with getting involved in other peoples 'domestics' - BOTH sides tend to unite ... and turn upon anyone 'interfering' ... and they have had plenty of practice rending each other limb from limb!

Not much to report in this instance, I'm afraid.

The last I heard was that my friend would be appearing in court around about the fourth of March. We have spoken to a legal fellow who is yet to be given all the details before he can help. Apart from that the mills grind slowly on.

Thanks for asking.

If 3 months pass then the Police will carry on and deprive the person concerned of his collection - without compensation. It pays to immeadiately take the steps outlined in Section 18.4 and get the firearms out of the hands of the Police so that money can be freed up for the defense and/or the collection placed into safe hands.

18.4 Disposal of Firearms
following Revocation
on Surrender of
Firearms Licence
1. Where a Firearms Licence has been revoked or surrendered and possession of the firearms
has been taken by the Police, the person previously in possession shall be given three
months in which to dispose of the firearms whether by sale, destruction or by giving
possession to someone approved of by the Police. (Section 28(2), Arms Act 1983).
2. Where a person fails to dispose of the firearms within the required period the file shall be
forwarded to the Manager: Licensing and Vetting who shall arrange for the firearms
to become the property of the Crown. (Note: compensation is not paid for ammunition
or accessories).
3. The covering report on the file shall contain the following;
• Name, address and licence number of the person whose licence has been revoked.
(Firearms Licence printout to be attached)
• The date the firearms came into the possession of Police.
• Rank and full name of the Commissioned Officer who authorised the revocation of the
Firearms Licence. The Revocation Notice is to be attached to the file.
• The date the revocation notice was served on the person.
• Where the item is an airgun/s or antique firearm/s the Notice to Surrender Airgun or
Antique Firearm pursuant to Section 41, Arms Act 1983 shall be attached to the file.
• The make, model, serial number and calibre of the firearms taken possession of.
• Two Dealer Valuations for compensation purposes. The value paid will be the average of
these two.

This person is the secretary of SSANZ who has a disaffected daughter. She has had several goes at him and this time alleged he had threatened her with guns. After a couple of goes, plod turned up in armed force, held him and his wife up at gunpoint and took his guns and licence away and put him in the cells for a night. He is 70. His case comes up on March 5th.
What is really absurd about this system apart from the fact this this is a guy who has had guns for ever with no offences, is that in general - they take his guns away and then he beats her to death with a baseball bat, but plod have done their job.
