Gun collector John Noel Mabey is moving on with his life back on the Coromandel Peninsula.
The Waikato Times revealed on Friday that one of Mabey's missing gun collection – a handgun – was used in last month's shooting of South Auckland Constable Jeremy Snow.
Mabey was sentenced to 21 months' prison in December 2008 on a representative charge of selling firearms to unlicensed people.
He was released from prison in October last year.
A family friend told the Times Mabey was now making positive moves with his life and was keen to move on from the harrowing past couple of years.
She said Mabey was working as a contractor and living on the Coromandel.
Mabey continued to claim that he was the victim of a burglary and denied police claims he was selling his weapons for easy cash to settle a property development debt, the woman said..
The incident had "shattered" the lives of Mabey's mother and his two teenage daughters.
I bet this last incident has shattered the lives of Snow's family too.
The damage Mabey, and others who have sold guns to criminals, have done to the cause of legal firearms ownership is immense.
The guns he sold to criminals will be turning up in crimes for years. This is the second time guns from him have been used against Police. Fat c**t.
